How I use Pilates within my practice

Having trained as a Pilates instructor through the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) I have more than ten years of experience in teaching. I am happy to work one-to-one or with small groups. I often integrate Pilates exercises into my therapy whether I am helping a client recover from a back injury or helping introduce mindful movement or work with body awareness. I have practiced myself for 15 years and believe it has helped me in terms of mental and physical well-being.

Who can I help?

As a physiotherapist, I have experience in working with clients with a range of health conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, or osteoarthritis. I work with clients as they recover from surgery or cancer treatments. My clients often use Pilates to improve their mental as well as physical well-being. My work is trauma informed and regularly runs alongside therapeutic work in counselling, clinical psychology, or psychotherapy. Sometimes clients like to come for a couple of sessions to get started. Others like to come more regularly or over a longer time frame.

The process may feel challenging and it does take time but with the right support we each have a huge potential to change and to move beyond our pain experience.
